Since its inception 27 years ago, the Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax (SPLOST) has made a huge difference for residents of Chatham County. Roads, fire stations, libraries and recreational facilities are just a few of the projects accomplished with just a penny on top of each dollar spent in Chatham County. Best of all, 38 percent of the burden is carried by visitors and others who live outside of the county.
